Cleanliness Campaign
In the Annual Cleanliness Survey-2021, Madhya Pradesh Indore city was chosen number one for the fifth time in a row, after all, what is the secret of its cleanliness, let us know.
Recently, in the cleanliness survey of the Central Government-2021, Indore city has also won this time in terms of cleanliness and for the last five consecutive times, it has achieved number one status.
Where The Award Was Given ?
President Ram Nath Kovind presented the Swachh Survekshan award to Indore in a program organized at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. On behalf of the citizens of Indore city, this award was received by Urban Administration Minister Bhupendra Singh, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Pratibha Pal.
Why Is Indore Number One?

INDORE 311 APP
The application was launched by Indore Municipal Corporation on 2nd October 2016 to communicate directly with their community leaders in government to resolve issues in their neighborhood.It provides access to wide range of information about public services and complaint regarding civic issues. Indore 311 application provides citizens a single platform to access information about various public services – Traffic, iBus, Helpline,
Complaints,etc.This also led to the authorities responding with equal vigor to ensure problems were solved within a 24-hr lead time. Accountability and responsiveness among the Municipal staff witnessed a change.Although there were several other platforms available for registering complaints but Indore 311 has been most convenient and successful in doing so and also in timely resolving the problem with greater degree of transparency. The citizens feel empowered that their one call/message on 311 app can put the system to work for them.
What Is Water Plus ?
'Water plus' Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness in cities and towns and was launched as India's Swachh Bharat Mission.
On what criteria got the status of 'Water Plus'?
By conducting a survey in Indore, the dirty water going into rivers and drains was stopped.
Apart from this, 30 percent of the city's sewage water is recycled and reused.
Seven sewerage treatment plants were built in the city and out of them, around 110 million liters per day (MLD) of treated water is being used.
Five Star Rating Award
Indore also got the award for five star rating of garbage free city star rating protocol along with clean survey. This award has been received for the third time in a row.
Contribution Of Citizens
The hard work and determination of the administration of Indore city has earned it the number one crown in the category of clean cities. The townspeople connected the sewerage falling in the drain around their houses to the line at their own expense. About 20 crore rupees were spent in this. Which people spent from their own pocket.
• In the year 2011-12, Indore was ranked 61st, while in 2016 this city got the 25th position in this category, but the mixed cooperation of the residents and the administration has changed the picture of the city to number one.
Others cities should also take Inspiration From Indore.
Other cities of the country should also take inspiration from this city and its residents and take a pledge to make their city clean and disciplined.
